4 Victims Shot at Howe Park Sacramento — Large Unauthorized Party Results in Shooting
Late Saturday evening, a large unauthorized party of hundreds of people at the Howe Park area in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento ended in a shooting when 20 to 25 rounds were discharged as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were working to clearing the area.
How Events Unfolded
Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department received calls involving individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at the park. A second caller indicated a reported fight and subjects running away.
An airship was sent to the area and swept the area but could not find the reported fight.
Despite this, multiple hundreds of people had assembled at the location for what the sheriff's office identified as an unapproved assembly. Deputies formed a perimeter around the park, activated their vehicle emergency lights, and gave the crowd approximately 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over loudspeakers.
While law enforcement cleared the gathering, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds were fired — sending hundreds of people running in panic.
The Victims
Four people — one female and three males, all believed here to be in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two victims had injuries classified as immediate, one victim had moderate injuries, and one victim sustained minor injuries. The Investigation Scene
The shooting took here place along the Cottage Way side of the park alongside the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The Home Depot was briefly placed on lockdown. Additional spent casings were discovered on Cottage Way, with rounds lodged found in the wrought iron fence near the Home Depot store — indicating a shooter who fired southward from the Cottage Way area toward the Home Depot parking lot. Crime scene investigators and detectives investigated the scene well into the evening.
Suspect Information
Through scanner communications, it was indicated that a vehicle of interest — described as a Kia vehicle — was check here intercepted in Solano County with four individuals Sacramento County Sheriff shooting investigation detained. Sheriff's deputies were heading to Solano County to pick up the suspects and transport them back to Sacramento County. Surveillance footage confirmed two shooters were involved.
